PLL5 Pre-Conference Event:

On Wednesday 15th May, we will be organising a pre-conference event for PLL5 Conference in Madrid.

FOLLM will organise the afternoon session “Methodological Innovations in Language Learning Motivation Research”, having Professor Ema Ushioda (University of Warwick, UK) and Professor Gary Barkhuizen (University of Auckland, New Zealand).

Event Detail:

  • 15:15–16:15: Plenary by Ema Ushioda on the topic of Methodological progress in motivation research
  • 16:15–16:45: Coffee Break
  • 16:45–17:45: A poster session for people to share their work on the topics of methodological innovations in motivation research
  • Invited commentators: Sal Consoli, Ema Ushioda, Gary Barkhuizen, Takumi Aoyama, Sarah Mercer
  • 17:15–18:15: Plenary by Gary Barkhuizen on the topic of narrative inquiry and motivation research

Proposal Submission:

The aim of this event is to encourage interaction in the poster sessions with all participants moving around, asking questions, and commenting on the studies and work reported on.

If you would like to submit an abstract for the afternoon poster session, please submit a 250-word abstract by 20th September to: sal.consoli@ed.ac.uk.

Dario Luis Banegas is Lecturer in Education at Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh. His main teaching and research interests are: language curriculum development, CLIL, teacher motivation, social justice, and action research.

About the talk
In this presentation, Dr Banegas will map out the motivation trajectories that a group of language teacher educators created and walked. He will reflect on their points of departure as well as their ways to sustain their motivation.
